Potential Career & Progression Benefits

Further Education & Skills

Prepare for teaching and training roles in colleges, adult/community learning and work-based education, subject to the employer's requirements.

Professional Development

Strengthen lesson planning, assessment, learner support, reflective practice and education research skills.

QTLS Pathway

The Level 5 diploma can support a route toward QTLS where the learner meets the Society for Education and Training (SET) and other applicable requirements. QTLS is not automatically awarded by completing the diploma.

QTS Is Separate

QTS is a separate professional status. A Level 5 diploma does not itself confer QTS. Eligibility depends on the route, qualification, professional status, experience and current UK requirements.

2026 UK guidance: GOV.UK states that QTLS status plus SET membership can make an experienced post-14 teacher eligible to work as a qualified teacher in schools in England. GOV.UK also states that, from 9 September 2026, teachers who trained to teach in Nigeria are no longer eligible to use the standard Apply for QTS in England service. Learners from Nigeria should therefore receive individual route advice before presenting this programme as a direct QTS route. Other routes, including iQTS or approved ITT pathways, have separate eligibility requirements.
